About North Texas Home Costs
North Texas Home Costs is an independent research project. We publish cost ranges for common home repairs and upgrades in the Dallas–Fort Worth market — water heaters, HVAC, foundations, roofs, fences, and the other projects DFW homeowners actually pay for.
Why this site exists
Most cost information online is built to capture your phone number, not to inform you. National "cost calculators" average prices across all fifty states, then route you to a lead-broker who sells your contact info to four contractors. The number you saw was never the point.
We do the opposite. There are no quote forms here, no "get matched with a pro" buttons, and no affiliate placements deciding which numbers you see. Just researched ranges for one metro area, with the sources listed at the bottom of every guide.
What we are — and aren't
- We are aggregators of public and semi-public pricing data: contractor price lists, municipal permit records, manufacturer and distributor pricing, and published industry cost studies, all filtered for the DFW market.
- We are not contractors, and we don't sell leads, referrals, or rankings. No company can pay to appear here.
- Our numbers are ranges, not quotes. Your house, your soil, your panel, and your city's permit office all move the price. A range tells you when a bid is normal and when it's an outlier — that's its job.
Corrections
If you're a DFW homeowner or contractor and a number on this site doesn't match what you're seeing in the field, we want to know. Send the guide name, what you paid or charged, and roughly when and where — to [email protected]. Guides get re-checked on a regular cycle (see our methodology), and field reports are the fastest way to catch a stale range.
